Project Overview

The Northumberland Estates Sawmill’s brand new state of the art wood processing facility on the Lionheart Enterprise Park in Alnwick offers a wide range of both sawn and round timber fencing together with gates, garden furniture, decking, postcrete, logs, wire and fittings. As well as modern day timber preservation techniques in both Tanalith E and Creosote ensuring the longevity of the timber in service.

Northumberland Estates own circa 4,100 ha of forestry and woodland, located throughout Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Managed on a sustainable basis, the forestry department looks to replace the same acreage each year as is felled. Other tree planting is regularly undertaken across the whole Estate as a part of amenity, sporting and conservation projects, as well as to replenish commercial stocks. This cutting edge sawmill and chipper line will also produce a renewable woodchip fuel supply for the Estate’s biomass systems and to be sold to the wider biomass industry.
