Project Overview

We were appointed to provide civil and structural engineering for this new build sandwich making factory. The unit was constructed to provide clean rooms standards; these are controlled spaces that are designed to keep out air contaminants of a certain level. The project was a catalyst site for the Teesside post industrial redevelopment. The site was part of historic back filled plot with blast furnace slag meaning significant consideration was required for the remediation and proposed sub structure design.

In order to minimise the excavation into the contaminated site we adopted a raft design enabling the foundation to site on top of the existing ground designed to span between hard and soft spots. The above ground structure was designed as an efficient portal structure to give allow cost clear span.
