River Tutt Trash Screen

We were approached to do the civil and structural design for the replacement of a trash / debris screen which protected a 3.8m diameter culvert on the River Tutt.

Project Overview

We were approached to do the civil and structural design for the replacement of a trash / debris screen which protected a 3.8m diameter culvert on the River Tutt. We designed a new multi-staged trash screen with associated access ramps and retaining structures to allow for improved maintenance and clearing operations as part of the Environment Agency’s commitment to flood alleviation across the UK. The area was previously susceptible to flooding and since the new screen installation no flood related incidents have been noted. The EA have highly commended the project and the screen has been adopted as good practice in accordance with the EA design guidance and CIRIA Culvert, Screen and Outfall Manual (C786F).
