Kielder Reservoir Art

Project Overview

JC Consulting was approached by Kielder Water & Forest Park to assist in the procurement of 6 different art works, to be provided by different commissioned artists, throughout the beautiful national park at Kielder. Many of the artworks are located deep in the forest, and this presents various logistical challenges to the construction. We provided pragmatic advice on buildability of the respective structures, as well as bespoke design of foundations, ranging from concrete rafts to timber piles. We worked with our clients to test the designs using the most basic of means – Land Rovers and ropes! This was a relatively modest commission. However, having the opportunity to work with creative, interesting people and providing engineering solutions at a fundamental level was refreshing and inspiring.
